A close cousin to dividend investing for those of us who value fundamental over technical analysis is value investing in equities.  Finding undervalued companies that trade well below where their stock should be priced and buying shares “on sale” then profiting over the medium to long term as the market wises up and investors come back on board.

For those of you who aren’t relying on dividends for immediate income, the Motley Fool has a good article about a particular bank stock that has both an undervalued share price and what the author believes is a dividend that’s soon to be on the rise.  Considering banking is currently the definition of a market sector that’s weighing down the prices of the companies that call it home, bank stocks could offer a good mix of attributes that satisfy both value and dividend investors.
